Tim “Timbali” Cornwell is a world-renowned percussionist with over 54 years of experience in the music industry. A self-taught virtuoso, Timbali has honed his craft through years of study with legendary instructors such as Baba Oloya Adelyamo, Markalino Diamond, and many others, refining his unique sound and technique along the way.

Timbali began his career in Cincinnati as a sought-after studio musician, contributing his talents to R&B legends like Midnight Star, The Whispers, and Carrie Lucas. He also played on numerous jingles and jazz recordings, quickly establishing himself as a versatile force in the industry.

In 1988, driven by a passion to expand his career, Timbali made the bold decision to move to Los Angeles, where he continued to push musical boundaries. Within just a year, he earned a spot as the percussionist for Janet Jackson’s iconic Rhythm Nation tour. This achievement became a defining moment for him, and he views it as a benchmark for modern percussionists everywhere.
